Frequently Asked Questions

Who are we?

 First and foremost our club is about the fishing and the friendship that this brings. Each year we have approximately 20 bay, estuary, freshwater and surf competitions available for members plus several social trips in between. We have around 35 undercover boat spaces plus storage for kayaks. We also have two club boats available for members to use. 

A member wanting to store their boat in the club are asked that they be active in club activities and their participation goes towards meeting a set of criteria. 

The club functions on members kindness to participate in twice yearly weekend working bee and a monthly Wednesday maintenance night. We also run the occasional fundraiser which goes towards the repair and maintenance of our facilities. 

Do I have to know a member to join?

  No, we encourage all potential members to come and visit our clubrooms on a Wednesday evening from 7.15pm and view what the club has to offer.

 Do I have to live locally to join?

  No, we have people from all over Melbourne including country and interstate members who only fish the occasional competition with us.

I am a beginner and only fish occasionally, is your club only for experienced anglers?

 No, many of our new members have limited fishing experience. Our members are willing to share their skills and knowledge. Any member who does not have a boat is always included in our regular boating competitions by riding with a members who has a boat or using a club boat. We also occasionally hold information nights on a variety of fishing related topics. We welcome all enquiries from male, female and juniors. We encourage everyone to come to the club on any Wednesday night at 7.15pm and inspect our facilities.

Do I have to own a boat to be a member?

 No, many of our new members do not own a boat and it is easy to get a ride with other boat owners within the club for club competitions. It is a great way to learn the basics of safe boating and fishing.

 Our club also owns two powered boats which are available for hire to club members for a modest $20 per day.

Can I store my boat/kayak at the club?

  Yes, a person must first be a member of the club for a period of time before being eligible to apply for a boat or kayak space.  An applicant is expected to meet levels of participation in club competitions and activities which are set out in the clubs bylaws and will be taken into account.

 Can I rent a boat from the club?

  Yes, the club has two boats available for hire by club members. The two boats are available for members use after 3 months of club membership and having completed the clubs boat school.

 I’m a kayaker can I use the launching ramp?

 The ramps may be used by any kayaker providing they do not impeded club members wanting to use the ramp. We as a club do provide storage of kayaks for members.
