Competition 8 – 8th November wrap up:
Competition 8 started at 5am and finished at 9am. The conditions were calm with easterly 5 to 10 knots. There was over 9 boats in this competition and only 8 people had fish weigh in.
The winner of Comp 8 with his brilliant catch went to John Merlino with 2 x Snapper @ 4050 gms. This was followed closely by Vince Merlino with 3 x Snapper @ 3660gms. In 3rd position was Peter Freeman with a nice 3220 gm Snapper.
Congratulations John in out smarting Vinnie with only two fish to Vinnie’s three.
Competition 6 – 18th October wrap up:
West to south-westerly up to 15 knots, created a little bit of a chop but didn’t stop 8 boats heading out to battle for comp 6.
The start time was 5.30am, finishing at 10am and being a mixed bag competition, saw 4 large fish hit the scales ranging from a little over 4Kg to just under 2kg. There was also a lot of pinkies caught, some weighed in to gain points and a lot of under sized pinkies were released.
The winning fish was caught by Corey Coghlan only 40 minutes into the competition, at 6.10am. Coggsy’s snapper swallowed 2 hooks with squid used as bait. The magnificent size snapper weighted in at 4.050kg. In speaking with Coggsy after the competition he admits it was a tough decision not going out on a date the night before, so that he could go out fishing. Looks like he made the right choice....Congratulations Coggsy!!!!
Second place went to Paul Robinson with a magnificent fish weighing in at 2.960kg and was lucky enough to get his run at approximately 9am.
Third place went to Wally Halaoui with a ripper snapper weighting in at 2.010kg, followed closely by Mick Crewes with a snapper @ 1.980kg.
To everyone else well done on your efforts and better luck next week........
